We have put in place the following practices in line with our environmental, corporate and social responsibilities.

A Solid and Dependable Environmental Responsibility Programme

Recycle Mayflex aims to continually review and reduce any negative environmental impact that its business activities create, including waste production and waste disposal.

Introduction of literature produced on recycled or FSC paper

We are moving towards all of our literature being produced on paper made from recycled fibres.

All of our stationery is printed on FSC certified paper. FSC paper is produced from sustainable sources and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Implementation of the WEEE Compliance Statement

WEEE Compliance As a supplier of electrical and electronic equipment, Mayflex has a clear and compliant approach to its responsibility with regards to the European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic (WEEE) Directive. All products that are subject to the WEEE Directive, supplied by Mayflex from 13th August 2005, are compliant with the WEEE marking requirements. Such products are marked with the 'crossed out wheelie bin' WEEE symbol in accordance with European Standard EN 50419.

Commitment to reducing our packaging and waste by 40% or more

Through our waste management programme, we aim to reduce our packaging usage and waste disposal by more than 40%. Our aim is to use only recyclable packaging cartons and materials for the transportation of our products to customers.

From 1st September 2008, all Mayflex cartons that leave our distribution warehouse have two symbols displayed on them: the green triangle, confirming that the carton is made from recycled materials and proving that we are compliant with EU directives, and the green dot, indicating that Mayflex is contributing to a 'packaging waste compliance scheme'.

We are also aware of our landfill responsibilities and we have an efficient recycling system in place at our head office location in order to recycle all our waste cardboard, paper, plastic and wood.

Mayflex Obtains ISO14001

Mayflex is proud to have gained certification to the internationally recognised environmental management system standard, ISO 14001.

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that helps companies create an effective Environmental Management System. The standard is designed to find a balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact. The process of gaining the certification allowed us to review our current processes and identify where the business was having an impact on the environment.

From this review, we put together a list of environmental goals which focused on three key areas: waste, energy and paper. Through looking at these areas we have been able to identify ways in which we can make massive reductions on our environmental impact and we have already managed an 80% reduction in waste being sent to landfill.

We are very proud to have obtained this and it is testament to the hard work from everyone across the company. The objective of our Environmental Management System is to create a culture of consideration and understanding of the effect of business decisions on the local and wider environment. We are committed to implementing our strategies and actions to ensure that we make a positive contribution to the environment.
