Excel Networking Solutions, the copper and optical cabling infrastructure provider, is proud to announce the immediate availability of a range of innovatively designed unshielded and shielded patch panels, aimed at streamlining patch lead management.
Excel believes in constantly evolving its range of products. Listening to customers and end users, and understanding their needs, drives the company’s development, and these new products, which extend the Excel Plus range, have been created with the integrator and end user in mind.
Unlike other products on the market, the Excel Plus angled range of patch panels utilises a jack with an angled fascia which is then mounted at ninety degrees compared to the conventional panel design. This approach creates a natural angle for the installed patch lead, directing the cable to one side, reducing the bend. This, in turn, reduces the space required between the front of the patch panel and the cabinet doors, whilst at the same time maintaining the aesthetics of the entire cabinet installation.
The rear of the panel termination is completed with the very popular toolless butterfly style housing introduced to the market by Excel in 2008.
Excel Marketing Manager, Tracey Calcutt, feels this innovate addition will further enhance an already strong range of products: “Our design team have yet again triumphed. With a clear understanding of our customers’ requirements, we are bringing a product to market that meets the demands of integrators and end users alike, which is both easy to install and great to use. Ease of use is assured by our approach to termination to the rear of the panel. There are no complications as there is no crossing of cables in the rear of the cabinet, just dress the cables as normal and terminate very quickly and easily in our toolless butterfly IDC. And once installed, patch cord management is seamless. There is no excess pressure on the cables and no large bend radius to get the cord away from an angled panel, as seen in other designs on the market. In the Excel panel the lead leaves the jack very naturally, with the minimum bend radius required.”
The new product is now in stock and available from UK and Middle East distributor Mayflex, and from Excel distributors across Europe and Africa. Initially available in Category 6 UTP and Category 6a FTP, a shielded Category 6 version will be available from the end of February 2010.
Market acceptance has been immediate with a UK government department project being completed during February 2010 with over 10,000 Category 6 unshielded patch panel ports all pre-terminated and installed in a matter of weeks. This latest addition to the Excel range is another innovative success.
