  ACTi, a leading manufacturer of IP video surveillance solutions, has listened to its customers and has decided to take steps to decrease its environmental impact. Following feedback from their channel partners, it came to ACTi's attention that the majority of low voltage power supplies that are bundled with cameras are not being used. Today, more than 80% of IP camera installations are using Power over Ethernet either by using PoE switches or PoE injectors. It is very convenient to maintain the power supply for 16 cameras with just one single PoE switch compared to having 16 individual power supply access points installed near each camera location or centrally with additional cable runs being required to get power to the camera points.
