Along with leveraging its strength in the copper market, Wilbur said the company sees opportunities to drive innovation in the fiber and wireless markets. For example, with data center consolidation and virtualization, there will continue to be a wave of deployment and certification momentum throughout the industry. <title>ACTi Going Green!</title>

  &lt;p&gt;&lt;a title="Find out more about ACTi" href="/manufacturers/acti/"&gt;ACTi&lt;/a&gt;, a leading manufacturer of IP video surveillance solutions, has listened to its customers and has decided to take steps to decrease its environmental impact.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;Following feedback from their channel partners, it came to ACTi's attention that the majority of low voltage power supplies that are bundled with cameras are not being used.  Today, more than 80% of IP camera installations are using Power over Ethernet either by using PoE switches or PoE injectors.  It is very convenient to maintain the power supply for 16 cameras with just one single PoE switch compared to having 16 individual power supply access points installed near each camera location or centrally with additional cable runs being required to get power to the camera points. &lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;This means that the power adapters that have always been included in camera packages are no longer used in actual installation.   This has led to a situation where hundreds of power adapters are being shipped with no practical use.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;ACTi is conscious of the negative aspects of providing products that are, in the majority of cases, discarded as waste, so starting from January 1, 2012, ACTi is &amp;quot;going green&amp;quot; – there will be no bundled power adapters included in the packages of PoE cameras. &lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;The benefits of their new policy are:&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;ul&gt;
    &lt;li&gt;There will be less wastage caused by unused power adapters&lt;/li&gt;
    &lt;li&gt;Fewer adapters means less production and therefore reduced pollution&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;/ul&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;If you still do need power, though, don't worry as PSU's will still be available separately.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;The award ceremony, which took place at the company’s European Headquarters in Munich and brought together Distributors and Resellers from across the continent, was part of Sanyo’s Premier Partner Conference.  Mayflex took the award for Best Non-Security Application using Sanyo HD products for a project at Bath Rugby club, working closely with installers U2Com.  The club is now using Sanyo HD cameras to stream live video feeds of the team’s training sessions into specialist sports analytics software to help them analyse their game.­ Instant replay can be provided to coaching staff pitchside via handheld devices allowing immediate review of activity on the pitch.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;This achievement comes just after Mayflex won MOBOTIX’s Partner of the Year award for their work across EMEA.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;This new partnership, which begins 20th September 2011, sees Mayflex appointed as a distributor across EMEA and complements the company’s existing portfolio of infrastructure, networking and electronic security solutions.&lt;/p&gt;
  &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;RF Code&lt;/strong&gt; solutions reduce the time and cost of discovering, tracking, and monitoring IT assets and the environments in which they’re located, offering the market’s most affordable, easiest to deploy solution. Because of their open architecture, they easily integrate into a customer’s existing technology infrastructure, enabling data centres, IT, facilities, and building management professionals, among others, to cost-effectively leverage the information RF Code captures.&lt;/p&gt;
