Excel Recruits Two New Business Development Managers

May 2012, Excel Networking Solutions, the copper and optical cabling infrastructure provider has recruited two new Business Development Managers to the team. The new recruits will be based in the UK and France.

Alex Reid joins the UK based team from Nexans where he held the role of UK Channel Manager, LAN division for 4 years and was then promoted to Business Development Manager, fulfilling that role for 2 years.

Bertrand Delasseaux joins the international team from Panduit where he held the role of Global Account Manager and will be based in France.

Excel Wins Award for a Second Year Running

Excel Networking Solutions, the copper and optical cabling infrastructure provider, has been voted as Cabling Supplier of the Year for a second year running in the highly respected Network Computing Awards 2012.

The Network Computing Awards, which took place on 22nd March in London, have been running for 6 years and are particularly meaningful as they are voted for by the readers of Network Computing magazine - the people who use the products every day. They were set up to recognise the companies, products and services in the industry that have most impressed the readers.

Excel beat off stiff competition from Brand-Rex (runners up), TE Connectivity (formerly Krone), Belden, Nexans, Panduit and Systimax to take the award for a second year.

Raytec Launches VARIO Lighting

CCTV lighting specialist, Raytec, has launched its new range of VARIO illuminators. VARIO is expected to re-define CCTV lighting thanks to a host of unique benefits.

VARIO illuminators allow users to adjust the output angle of an illuminator on site to a precise and pre-defined angle through a sophisticated VARIO optical system. A standard VARIO kit includes interchangeable lenses to deliver angles of 10, 35 and 60 degrees out of the box; enough flexibility to cover most applications. Other angles are available on request.

VARIO illuminators achieve longer illumination distances and allow cameras to produce better images than traditional LED illuminators thanks to elliptical beam patterns with hot-spot reduction technology (HRT). The HRT system delivers a highly diffused, elliptical beam shape to deliver more light where it is needed, generating both longer distances by minimizing light wastage and reducing overexposure of foreground objects.

An optional hand held remote control is available for VARIO. A single remote can operate multiple units and delivers access to advanced features including an LED status indictor to report the operational status of the illuminator. With set-up from ground level possible, the remote control makes installation quicker, easier and safer.

VARIO illuminators are available in Infra-Red and White-Light and are powered directly from 12-24V.

MOBOTIX kicks off UK roadshow to update the channel

ACTi Goes Hemispheric

ACTi has introduced a new 4-Megapixel hemispheric camera with a 360-degree ceiling mount view and 180-degree wall mount view.

The KCM-3911 is the perfect solution for applications such as retail stores, warehouses, petrol stations, train stations, lobbies and banks that represent rather complex environments. The new camera is capable of handling different lighting conditions for day and night time and it can look in all directions at the same time. It also offers a new 6-Region mode which enables higher sensitivity as you can have each of the regions streamed individually with different management and permission rules applied for each stream.

The KCM-3911 can also act like a PTZ camera with the special ePTZ mode. And thanks to the powerful ISP designed by ACTi, the spherical raw image is converted into a flat and rectangle-shaped image right within the camera together with restoring the normal proportions of the objects in the field of view. This way there is no need for extra processing on the remote software side, meaning the KCM-3911 can be easily integrated with any VMS in the world.

ACTi�s own software NVR (free up to 16 channels) and Standalone NVR will be ready to support all the special functions of the camera, such as panorama mode, ePTZ mode and 6-Region mode with any resolution.

Axis� Northern Europe team unveils new UK headquarters

�Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, has today announced the opening of a new headquarters for its Northern Europe team in the UK.

This move follows a successful 2011 for the business as Axis announces its end of year figures of net sales of over �335 million and 33% growth in local currencies.

With market research company, Key Note forecasting that the UK CCTV market will rise in value by 30.1% between 2012 and 2016 with significant growth from 2013 onwards*, Axis� new headquarters in Watford, Hertfordshire is ideally located to support not only UK-based installers and users of IP-based surveillance but also those throughout the rest of the region and further afield.

Excel Launches Blog Site

1st March 2012, Excel Networking Solutions, the copper and optical cabling infrastructure provider, has launched a new multi-language blog to provide its customers with an additional source of useful information on relevant topics and updates on the Excel solution.

The main contributors to the blog will be Paul Cave, Excel Technical Manager and Simon Robinson, Excel Product Manager. Both have extensive experience in the industry, are BICSI RCDD accredited, amongst other industry qualifications and sit on various Standards Committees and BSI Expert Panels.

Commenting on the Blog, Tracey Calcutt, Marketing Manager said �The Excel blog provides Paul, Simon and I with an informal platform to share with customers, consultants and end users our thoughts and advice on product updates, standards, installation tips plus anything else industry related that we feel strongly about. And as is usual with blogs, our readers will be able to engage in conversation and debate with us by posting their comments and opinions.�
