Futuristic Portable Storage and Access Point

LevelOne announces the release of the cleverly designed WAP-0008 that incorporates a Portable Storage Enclosure and an Access Point into one device.

Ideal for Small Office and Home Users, the WAP-0008 easily stores, shares and back up data while providing wireless network access. The built-in storage bay hosts a 3.5 inch SATA/IDE Hard Disk Drive*. It further provides high-speed wireless network access at 54Mbps.

Storage Enclosure for SATA/IDE Hard Disk Drive

The built-in storage bay for a 3.5" SATA/IDE Hard Disk Drive* provides quick access of shared and stored documents and other files, digital media such as music, video and photos with everyone on the home or office network.

The WAP-0008 is an ideal network storage solution for home and small office networks where files and other data are shared among network users. Its slim and futuristic design will be a welcoming addition to space limiting desktops.

Users can choose and install any type of brand or capacity 3.5 inch hard disk drive*.

USB Interface

The WAP-0008 further includes an additional two USB2.0 ports that allows users to connect the storage enclosure to external USB devices such as USB hard disk and other USB storage drives.

The USB ports allow for hot-swap of external storage devices without turning the device on and off. This feature makes it more efficient when different storage devices need to be attached and removed from the WAP-0008.

802.11b/g Wireless Solution

The WAP-0008 Portable Storage Enclosure is also a multi-purpose wireless solution with its build-in wireless 802.11b and 802.11g wireless capability providing network speeds of up to 54Mbps. The WAP-0008 can provide network access to wireless network devices by acting as a bridge between wired Ethernet and wireless LAN networks to provide network access to both networks.

It can further be used to extend network coverage within the home where ADSL routers lack wireless capability or where wireless networks suffer from insufficient wireless coverage.

The WAP-0008 incorporates several important security measures to protect the wireless network and the data stored on the storage disk from unauthorized access. It provides basic 64/128-bit key length WEP encryption security as well as advanced WPA-PSK MAC access filtering and a ESSID broadcast disable function security features.
