This 2-day programme focuses on the installation and testing of voice grade cable and provides an overview of key systems programming and facilities.

Designed as an introduction to telephony, the programme equips new entrants with a good grounding in the installation and testing of voice grade cable, and key systems. Those attending gain a good understanding of how public telephone operators provide network services and how to test from network interfaces to determine faulty liability. The course also covers the need to plan block wiring, to meet both private branch exchange and network requirements and the regulatory considerations with network and customer owned cabling. Also, with most new installations requiring the installer to converge the voice with the customers ‘data structured cabling system’, the underpinning knowledge and skills to do this are examined.
